Sport & Conflict In what ways does sport 'help' in a conflict situation? Does competition fuel conflict? Or does conflict require an 'empty cultural form' (e.g. sport) to bring opposing sides together? Furthermore, do you think there is a tendency for some practitioners to take a moral/ethical high-ground by claiming that 'basic needs' should be met first and that sport should only be a peripheral concern in a conflict situation? |
